OTA critical software and security updates: If the car needs to move from a Wi-Fi zone (i.e. home garage) to drive somewhere urgently – the OTA session – originally established on Wi-Fi at home - must not break. Without the ALTOS SCM, the OTA update is in danger of failing, potentially leading to data corruption or other problems that could render the vehicle inoperable

eCall and BCall: In an emergency situation the call must not drop, as there is no time to waste to re-dial and re-establish context with the service person. In the event of an accident, dropping an emergency call could lead to a life threatening situation

ADAS and Cloud delivery of HD Map updates: If a re-route is needed due to a new safety condition, the continuity of HD Map updates must not be broken. Without the ALTOS SCM, the driver would be unable to receive the updated HD map, resulting in a potentially hazardous condition
